SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna's men's track and field team made the most of their home return hosting the Friday Night Showdown and reminding their regional competition what they're capable of. The evening called for many PRs to be broken as the River Hawks look to keep it a hot February leading into the Landmark Championships.
Starting off with the 5K, senior TJ Grenda finished in second with a time of 16:10.41. Senior
Andrew McDowell in seventh finished with a PR of 17:53.52, while sophomore
Hunter Valentino chased a 17:54.79 in eighth place. The men's 4x200 relay team of sophomore
Dominic Santos, first-year
Aidan Diglio, senior
Ezra Miller and first-year Henery Notarfrancesco took first place with a collective time of 1:31.97. In the distance medley relay, first-year
Joseph LaBarbera, sophomores

Ian Anderson and
Bilal Abdelnabi took second place with 11:50.65.
First-year Calder Diakite qualified with 8.39 in the 60-meter hurdles and placed first in the finals with a new PR of 8.19. Miller, with a prelim time of 8.58, ran with a time of 8.49 in the finals, placing third. Junior
Carter Smink, with a 8.42, finished in fourth place with a time of 8.54 in the finals. In the 60-meter dash, sophomore
Mason Winslow ran 7.05 to reach the finals, where he PR'd at 7.00 for second place. Diglio, at 7.27, finished in ninth place while sophomore
Ryan Sullivan PRs with 7.44.
During the mile, sophomore Finn Lehman PR'd with a5:21.98. Seniors
Brandon Zimmerman and Ben Bulger raked in first and second place in the 400 meters, Zimmerman with a 50.59 and Bulger a PR of 50.96. Santos placed fourth with a time of 52.56 while junior
Rowan Smith ran 52.94 in fifth. First-year
Nikolai Lulewich took ninth place with a time of 54.47. In the 800 meters, senior Christan Calderaro with a 2:07.12 finished in fourth place. Sophomore
Jack Compton, in eighth, ran 2:12.00, while first-year Tommy Hover PR'd with a 2:19.47.
In the 200 meters, Notarfrancesco finished in sixth place with a 23.35. During the 3000 meters, Alderman earned the team's next victory with a first-place time of 9:07.92. First-year
Thomas McGann, in second place, ran a 23-second PR of 9:12.38. In the final 4x400 relay, Anderson, Calderaro, Facciolo and Hover finished in sixth place with 3:49.05.
Out in the field, junior throwing phenom
Cole Goodwin took second place in the weight throw with a PR of 15.33 meters. Sophomore
Seth Taub takes sixth place in pole vault at 3.90 meters, while fellow sophomore
Lance Engel in eighth vaulted 3.60 meters. Goodwin continued to hit good marks in the shot put, placing sixth at 13.21 meters. Also in the shot was sophomore
Jace Hershey with a PR of 10.66 meters, while sophomore
Tyler Roush threw a PR of 9.51 meters.
In the pits,
Charles Montross jumped to first place in high jump with a PR of 1.99 meters. Zimmerman, in fourth, jumped 1.74 meters. Abdelanbi finished in a three-way ties for seventh with Westminster's Kory White and Lulewich, each jumping 1.74 meters. Junior
Marcus Moyer, clearing 1.69 meters, placed tenth. At day's end in the triple jump senior
Jackson Mabry jumped 12.75 meters in sixth place, while
Deatrick Moyer in eighth place jumped 12.40 meters.
The men will be back on their home track for the SU Invite on Saturday, Feb. 15 starting at 10 am. It marks the second of Susquehanna's three-meet home stand, concluding with the SU Tune Up the following Friday, Feb. 21.
