Outstanding football, basketball, and baseball player for the early Crusaders. Kauffman went on to a two-year stint with the St. Louis Browns in 1914-15. His football career at S.U. was highlighted by a 90-yard run in a 14-7 loss to Bucknell in 1908. As an outfielder he was remembered for registering five hits including three home runs against F&M.
