Garrett was the athletic director at SU 1960-65, as well as head football coach 1960-68, head baseball coach 1962-65, and head track coach in 1961. He had by far the best winning percentage of any coach in SU football history. One of the greatest victories in SU sports history came when Garrett's Susquehanna toppled Temple 22-18 to close the 1963 campaign.
