An outstanding tackle for Susquehanna football teams, Baker was also an excellent first baseman for Susquehanna. Captain of the gridiron team in 1921, Baker is most noted for an interception and return against eastern powerhouse Colgate in 1920. His 50-yard jaunt set up the only score Colgate would allow to an eastern team that season.
