Matt became the program's single season rushing touchdown leader and scoring leader with 18 scores for 108 points in 1997. Matt was named to the MAC Commonwealth First-Team in 1997 and 1998 and was Commonwealth Player of the Year in 1998. His 1,163 rushing yards and 1,406 All-Purpose yards in 1998 are fifth-best in SU History and he helped the Crusaders win the  MAC Commonwealth Championship in 1998.
