Tyler set SU football records for career passes completed (233), career passing yardage (1,239); (969) and ranks high in several other categories. His All-Star Honors as a quarterback included First Team MAC-North, Third Team All-State, and Honorable Mention All-Lutheran College. An all-around athlete, Tyler also made Honorable Mention in the All-Lutherans Team as a freshman defensive back in 1969. He also served as a catcher on the Crusader baseball team, earning two letters.
