"Grocey" was known as the "Nucleus" of both the football and baseball teams from 1927-29 according to the Lanthorn. He was described as a "plunging fullback" with an excellent passing game. His senior year was cut short by a knee injury against Bucknell, and Susquehanna missed his passing and open-field running for the remainder of the season.
