A local sports legend, "Johnnie" was an outstanding end in the pass combo of Groce and Auten in the mid 1920's. He lettered in basketball and football. He taught and coached in Sunbury for 39 years until 1968 and was named "Citizen of the Year" in 1980 by American Legion Post #201.
