A four-year letter winner in field hockey, Sue is called "one of the best defenders I have ever coached" by coach Connie Harnum. As a center-back she earned All-MAC Northwest honors as both a junior and senior and was named as the team's Best Midfielder in both years. She led her defense allowing only seven goals in 14 games and an outstanding record of 11-2-1 in 1988. She also played softball for one year with nine hits including a triple and a home run.
