Ace-right hander on coach Jim Garrett's 1965 MAC Northern Division Championship baseball team, Gibney earned an 8-0 record. He also led the team in hitting. Gibney saw gridiron action as an offensive and defensive end and punter. He earned All-Star honors in baseball and football.
