In 1970 Palchak became the first Crusader giddier to surpass the 1000-yard mark for rushing in one season gaining 1,025 yards. He reaped numerous honors including First Team All-Lutheren College, Most Valuable Player in the MAC-North, first team ECAC-College Division, Associated Press All-PA, and Honorable Mention A.P. Little All-American.
