Playing under the venerable Staggs as coaches Lou lettered four straight years in football, an Honorable Mention, Little All-American in 1950 he was named SU's "Player of the week" in five out of the eight games played. In addition he achieved 3 letters in baseball as team captain Lou Seldom left the field playing both offense and defense as well as being the team's kicker.
